How to Join
Paperwork for 4-H and PVHA must be filled out for each member and family involved in PVHA. Paperwork can be filled out at our our meetings. Our Spring session begins on February 23rd. You must sign your child up for a project or for Cloverbuds by February 9th. To see our project choices for the spring session, click "Projects and Workshops" . Click "Project Sign-up Form" to sign your children up on-line. You may also sign up for a spring project at our January 26th meeting or at our Science Fair on February 9th. If you wait until the first meeting of the spring session on February 23rd, your child may not get in their project of choice. (Note: All children 4-8 automatically will do Cloverbud activities. You will still need to fill out a project sign-up form. Just put "CB" in the blank for project choice. We need all parents to sign-up Cloverbud children so that we have an accurage number to plan activities for.) We also ask that each family pay dues of $35(or $17.50 for half-year) to support the cost of running the club, building expenses and project cost. However, we never turn away a family because of an inability to pay. Please make arrangements with our Treasurer, Tammi Dearing. All information is kept confidential.
Information Table Be sure to check out our information table during the meeting. The table will be for PVHA and general homeschool information. Any items put on the table must be picked up by the end of the meeting or they may be thrown away. The Secretary Box Please do not hand Cheryl Guay anything during the meeting. If you have any paperwork or items to give her, please put your name on them and place them in the secretary box on the information table. Do not place any money in the box. Please hand any money to the Treasurer, Tammi Dearing. Thank you!The Director BoxSometimes you may want to hand papers and misc. stuff to Tanya during a meeting. It may be best to place it in the Directors' Box at the information table. Otherwise items handed to them during a hectic meeting may get misplaced. Also put your name on the item, so if they have a question, they will know who to ask.“Can I just drop my child off?” The answer is NO. We require a parent’s presence and participation. There are many areas for parents to help in and we do need you. We have a policy of having 2 adults in every room at all times. Because of this we need parents to help club and project leaders. We also need help with cleaning and the nursery. Please indicate in what area you are willing to help out when filling out the Project Sign-up form at the end of this newsletter. All parents should be prepared to step in and help when asked. Phone UseWe ask that no one use the church's phone at any time. If you need to make an emergency call, you may use Cheryl Guay's cell phone. E-mail GroupYou may receive and post 4-H and homeschool related messages to our e-group at pvha4h@yahoogroups.com. Contact the secretary cherylat4h@myfairpoint.net to join.
Cancellations In the event of poor weather, a decision will be made between 10am and 11am the day of the meeting or event. PVHA will make this announcement by e-mail, by phone for those who do not have e-mail and through our local TV stations WVII and WLBZ. Ink Cartridge Recycling Program We will have a special box on the information table for you to deposit used ink cartridges. We earn $3 Staples store credit for every qualifying cartridge.Parking InformationStreet parking in the area has a 1-hour limit and spaces are limited. At Pickering Square Parking Garage, the first 2 hours are free, the 3rd hour is $1.50 and it’s 50 cents every hour after that. There are parking lots at either end of Columbia St. The cost to park is 50 cents per hour, but space may be limited.
Fire Plan
In the event the fire alarm goes off, leaders will take their children out the nearest exit and meet across Columbia St. in front of Northstar Photography. VOLT Leaders did you know? That if you transport children other then your own for a 4-H event or activity, a copy of your driver’s license and proof of insurance must be on file at the Penobscot Cooperative Extension Office. If you have not dropped of your driver information be sure to do it before transporting any 4-H members in your car.
Yearbook
Every year we publish a yearbook for our members. It is a tangible reminder of our year in PVHA. Other Yearbook Information*Photos given to the year book committee WILL BE cropped and edited unless specifically stated, “Do not cut.” *You may put items in the Yearbook Box on the information table throughout the year.*Graduate pages for the yearbook must be ready for the April 25th meeting. *Yearbook sign-up sheet will be out on the Information Table in March & April.
